Service in the Great Patriotic War as artillery officer and scout; multiple decorations including the Order of the Red Star

1945–1952

Work in Moscow; evening school and amateur art studio at the "Serp i Molot" factory; decision to pursue an artistic career

1952

Admitted to the Moscow State Art Institute named after Ilya Surikov

1958

Graduation from the Surikov Institute; move to Kostroma; begins teaching at the Art School

1960

Admitted to the Artists' Union of the USSR

1961

Creation of "Volzhanka", one of his most renowned works

1962

Elected chairman of the Kostroma branch of the Artists' Union

1964

Creation of "Youth Brigade"; begins teaching at the Pedagogical Institute
